XHHW-2 aluminum building wire uses 8000-series aluminum alloy conductors with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, rated 600V and 90°C in both wet and dry locations. The insulation provides strong resistance to heat, moisture, and abrasion, and is approved for conduit, raceways, and other standard building wire installations.
Used for services, feeders, and branch circuits in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings where aluminum conductor is specified in place of copper.
