Description

As a low capacitance computer cable, Belden 9842 is ideal for applications that require sending higher frequency signals through a coaxial (or twisted pair) cable over longer distances. It is part of Belden's industrial automation and process control line, known for reliability and performance.
24 AWG stranded (7x32) tinned copper conductors are appropriate for use in fixed services where they are unlikely to be disturbed, such as hook-up wire in cable raceways, or where they will be disturbed regularly for maintenance that causes only moderate flexing.
The polyethylene insulation is rated excellent or outstanding in a wide array of environments.

Twisted pairs create "noise immunity" by reducing crosstalk through balanced signal transmission.

Because of this, twisted pair conductors often yield higher data transmission speeds compared to traditional multi-conductor cables.

The Beldfoil® shield provides 100% coverage that offers strength and flexibility, as well as extra insultion. Its aluminum and polyester construction is also thin and lightweight. It is excellent at both radio and audio frequencies. It is not intended for applications that require the shield to have high tensile strength, and fatigue life is fair, although special techniques can extend it's usuability in high flex situations.

With a 90% coverage braid shield as well, the 9842 further improves performance against diffusion and interference.

PVC Jacket- According to Belden's Capabilities Bulletin, the PVC jacketing is considered excellent for resistance to oxidation, ozone and flame. It is also suitable for heat, weather, sun, acids and alkali exposure. Normal temperature range for a PVC jacket is -20 C to 80 C.
