Description
Belden 88760 is one tough cable. Its FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) insulation and jacket give it an outstanding or excellent rating for all conditions other than nuclear radiation. A paired cable in Belden's audio, control and instrumentation line of products, it is built for reliability in challenging environments, from heat and flame resistance to a range of chemicals, temperatures and even weather.
Despite the toughness of the FEP jacket, with 18 AWG stranded (19/30) tinned copper conductors, 88760 is best suited for installations were little to moderate disturbance is likely, including raceways and circumstances where the only disturbance is for maintenance.
Twisted pair construction reduces crosstalk by balancing signal transmission. Because of this improvement in noise immunity, compared to traditional multi-conductor cables, twisted pair conductors often yield higher data transmission speeds.
Overall Beldfoil® shield provides 100% coverage. Its aluminum and polyester construction is thin and lightweight, while also offering strength and flexibility, and some extra insulation. It is excellent at both radio and audio frequencies. It is not intended for applications that require the shield to have high tensile strength, and fatigue life is fair, although special techniques can extend it's usuability in high flex situations.
The 20 AWG stranded tinned copper drain wire allows for simple termination and grounding of the entire shield.
