Description
Belden 8770 is one of the most widely used cables for industrial signal transmission applications. It is part of Belden's audio, control and instrumentation line of cables. And like all Belden products, 8770 is known for delivering reliable high performance, even in the most challenging conditions.
Three 18 AWG stranded (16x30) tinned copper conductors(3) are typically used in fixed services such as hook-up wire in cable raceways, or in situations where some moderate flexing may occur, when frequently disturbed for maintenance, for example.
The polyethylene insulation is rated excellent or outstanding in a wide array of environments.
Three conductors reduce interference by balancing signal transmission. Because of this improvement in noise immunity, compared to traditional multi-conductor cables, 3 conductors often yield higher data transmission speeds.
Overall Beldfoil® shield provides 100% coverage using an aluminum and polyester construction that is thin and lightweight while offering strength and flexibility, as well as extra insulation. It is excellent at both radio and audio frequencies. It is not intended for applications that require the shield to have high tensile strength, and fatigue life is fair, although special techniques can extend its usability in high flex situations.
The 20 AWG stranded tinned copper drain wire allows for simple termination and grounding of the entire shield.
PVC Jacket- According to Belden's Capabilities Bulletin, the PVC jacketing is considered excellent for resistance to oxidation, ozone, and flame. It is also suitable for heat, weather, sun, acids and alkali exposure. Normal temperature range for a PVC jacket is -20 C to 80 C.
