Description
A network cable that supports applications using Category 5e standards, Belden 1583A is part of the popular DataTwise line. An excellent option for gigabit Ethernet or even analog video over a data cable-- applications that require bandwidth over 100 MHz.
Suitable for fixed riser installations where it is unlikely to be disturbed, 1583A is a CMR cable that is designed to reduce the spread of fire between floors. In part because of its bare copper construction, it is not suitable for outdoor, buried or aerial installations.
Belden 1583A has eight 24 AWG solid copper conductors that are arranged in four non-bonded pairs. Twisted pair construction creates noise immunity, reducing crosstalk and therefore yielding higher data transmission speeds compared traditional multi-conductor cables.
Unshielded twisted pairs (UTP), make 1583A less expensive and easier to work with than fiber optic or coaxial cable, while remaining suitable for local area networks.
Polyolefin insulation provides lower capacitance performance compared to PVC-insulated cables, while 1583A's PVC jacket is rated good to excellent for resisting heat, ozone, weather and flame, with a normal operating range between -20 C and 80 C.
