Description
This 16 gauge 2 conductor SOOW shielded portable power and control cable is manufactured by Southwire and Coleman Cable. SOOW is the most popular type of portable cord because of its versatility. The S stands for service, the OO stands for oil resistant insulation and jacket, and the W stands for weather/water resistant. It is suitable for outdoor/indoor and can be used in heavy duty applications for its durability.
The SOOW thermoset rubber EPDM insulation stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer and CPE jacket stands for chlorinated polyethylene which both offer further resistance to abrasion, heat, and excellent flexibility at high and low temperatures. The temperature rating is -40℃ to 90℃ and the voltage rating is 600 volts.
Between the insulation and jacket there is a tinned copper braided shield with 85% coverage and a separator applied around the cable to aid in jacket removal. SOOW cable can be used for many applications including: industrial equipment, heavy tools, fire alarm and temperature controls, appliances, mining applications, and marine dockside power.
