Description
This 10 gauge stranded bare copper conductor is rated both THHN and THWN-2. THHN means thermoplastic, high heat resistant, nylon coated and THWN-2 is similar, but has additional weather and water resistance. It is a general purpose building wire as defined by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and is used for services, feeders, and branch circuits in residential and commercial applications. This wire is rated for maximum 90°C in both wet and dry locations and only to 75°C when exposed to oil. The UL 83 standard rating is given to single conductor, thermoplastic insulated wire and cables rated to 600 volts. THHN THWN-2 can be installed in conduits, ducts, or other raceways.
Applications:
- General purpose building wire for services, feeders and branch circuits
- Installed in conduit, duct, and other raceways in wet and dry locations.
- Rated gasoline and oil-resistant
- Resistant to abrasion, acids, alkalines, ozone, and water
- Small diameter of the wire permits additional circuits or larger conductors without exceeding maximum fill limitations.
- For THHN applications, the conductor is appropriate for use in dry locations not to exceed 90°C
- For THWN-2 applications, the conductor is appropriate for wet or dry locations not to exceed 90°C
- For MTW applications, the conductor is appropriate for use in dry locations at 90°C or not to exceed 60°C in wet locations or where exposed to oil or coolants (with ampacity limited to that for 75°C conductor temperature) as outlined in NFPA79 Electrical Standards for Industrial Machinery
